Are there any carts where you list items but not for sale?

I have been playing around with a couple of shopping carts + cms`a with cart modules for the last few hours, Im trying to find a cart that you can list products but do not have to sell them, Just list the product instead.

For example I wanted to sell a couple of Items but did not want to sell the majority of them..

Any suggestion?

A simple solution would be to use one that markes items "out of stock" when the stock level it "0"

You simply then change that text or image to "Not For Sale" people won't be able to buy because the system can be set to not sell out of stock items.

This has prompted me to go back to an idea I had about an affiliate 'shop', where you list products with categories - no shopping cart - and you are routed through to the affiliate when clicking buy now.

All do-able with a decent, strong SEO CMS, ...err .. like our favourite .. MODx

Following on from this idea I quickly put this together in MODx -> Home | Tiling Tools HQ

It's like an affiliate system: categories, products, prices, googleads, optional youtube video, and optional brochure link. The style is pretty bland at the moment but that's easy enough to change when I've got some more time.

I've just put in a little article system too (for a bit of SEO benefit)

You can have it, sure! It's running MODx CMS, so it's database driven with an intuitive back-end. Makes it expandable.

PM me an empty domain name as a target and I'll ask Vida if they can copy it across for you.

I've just reskinned our affiliate system from the tiling tools one into this natural health one -> Natural Health for You. Also added related products, which can be listed out at the bottom.

Nice products, as we've got some good affiliation going on at the moment.

It's managed by the very latest MODx CMS.

I thought I'd share with you guys how the backend looks on MODx system

The categories are organised on the left as parent folders, then underneath we add child pages (products). The fields are easy to use. And it's really easy to add images, just click insert and an image browser/uploader appears. You can also crop the image too, or resize it. (useful for creating the thumbnail without leaving it to HTML rescaling)

The items light grey are unpublished pages, darker grey means that they are live but will not appear in the nav menu.

Nice and strong SEO too.
